Whimsical Wedding in Seattle: An Intimate Celebration at The Lodge at St. Edwards Park

In early September, we had the honor of traveling to Seattle, Washington, to design for Bing and Dong’s whimsical wedding at The Lodge at St. Edwards Park.

The couple’s venue, The Lodge at St. Edwards Park, was an old Catholic seminary designed by architect John Graham Sr. The grounds are rich with history and were the perfect setting for a woodsy, romantic, whimsical wedding. The setting is beautiful with lush fir, cedar and maple trees, as well as a view of Lake Washington.


Ethereal wedding color palette

Bing and Dong's wedding featured an enchanting color palette of periwinkle, lavender, iris, and ivory. These soft, ethereal tones created a dreamy mood. The ceremony took place at an old grotto surrounded by large fir and cedar trees. To create a whimsical atmosphere we used romantic, lush blooms such as hydrangea in shades of blue and lavender, delphinium, lisianthus, garden roses, iris, and purple allium. We loved how the lush installation on the grotto turned out.

 
 

Pacific Northwest wedding florals

The table florals mimicked small meadows growing from the table. We wanted the reception arrangements to feel textural and romantic with a touch of mystery. The tablescape was designed as one long, cohesive piece to ensure a flow of colors and textures. We used a mixture of flowers and greenery native to the pacific northwest such as Japanese anemone, ferns, heuchara foliage, sedum, clematis, ferns, and native grasses.

We also added in fruits such as figs, grapes, and berries to add more depth to the color palette and unexpected texture. For more romance, we used lavender taper candles in brass holders which provided ambience once the sun went down.

Everyone at the table had their own vantage and interaction with the flowers depending on where they sat or mingled with other guests.
